Continuing to Master Multiplication

We are well on our way!
We used snap cubes to create arrays.

Mrs. Stewart will pose a word problem and we can use any strategy we'd like to solve it.

We are practicing working together towards a solution.

Aren't those some beautiful arrays?!?

We sure work hard in grade 3!

Land Regions in Peru, Ukraine, Tunisia, and India

We are using our knowledge of the land regions of Ukraine, Peru, India, and Tunisia to create informative posters. We created a criteria and checklist as a class and have been assessing our productivity as we go. The students have demonstrated fantastic teamwork and are very dedicated to this project.

Practicing our New Comprehension Skills

Shark facts!
Degren's teaching Mrs. Stewart about his favourite topic!

We highlight the words that challenge us.

Reading Comprehension Strategies

In language arts, we have begun to focus on our reading comprehension skills. In grade grade 3, we will concentrate on 6 skills that increase comprehension when reading various texts. The skills that we have covered so far are:  Finding the Main Idea and Recalling Facts and Details.

We compare the main idea to an umbrella, with the details being the raindrops.

Introducing... MULTIPLICATION!

In math, we have been working on multiplying numbers with products less than 25. We have explored multiplication using manipulatives, pictures, and arrays. It is very helpful for us to refer to the multiplication symbol (X) as "groups of". We are doing great!
We use dotted cards to help us visualize our multiplication stories.
